That Deserves a StarIt’s Friday!

Can I get an Amen, Hell Yeah, or virtual fist bump, please?

After all of the racing and partying last weekend, followed by the copious amounts of laundry and cleaning, I’m looking forward to a low-key weekend.

So, I thought I’d keep today simple & sweet with a few of my favorite things. Thanks to Katie at Running4Cupcakes for the inspiration behind Friday Favorites!

Threads & Treads

Now that the temps are starting to drop, it’s time for long-sleeved tees and cozy fleeces. Short-sleeved race tees are a dime a dozen, but long-sleeves are my favorite. I wear them all the time in fall and winter, and I have some really old favorites I just can’t condemn to the rag pile.

Kuhl Istria Full-Zip Sweater

As much as I love long-sleeved tees, I’m also pumped for fleece and sweater weather. I can’t wait to try out this beauty from Kuhl. My mom and dad gave it to me for my birthday, and I love the beautiful Emerald color.

Montrail Bajada Trail Shoes

I mentioned these kicks in my trail race recap, but they warrant more love.

I have an extremely high arch, so I need a cushioned, neutral running shoe. I also have a very narrow heel, but my toes splay wide.

My biomechanical oddities are no issue for the Bajadas! The heel is snug, but the extra roomy toe box is perfect for flying on the descents. The colors rock too!

Optic Nerve Cloudraker

Remember how I gushed about my seven-year love affair with my Optic Nerve Hoochie Coos? I’m downright devastated to report my beloved shades are no more. After wearing them on countless adventures, I lost them in Maine. I wish I had a good story, but I simply misplaced them when checking into a hotel and, despite turning our room upside down, couldn’t find them.

Maybe they were just ready to meet their maker. R.I.P.

CloudrakerSo, I did what any mourning person would do. I went online and ordered a new pair. After emailing back and forth with the fabulous Optic Nerve team, I settled on the Cloudraker. I anxiously awaited their arrival and then ripped open the package the moment they arrived.

The verdict: AWESOME!

These shades are the perfect replacement for my Hoochie Coos, and I have no doubt they’ll be with me for countless adventures!

Note: I received no compensation for the links in this post. I just really LOVE these products and wanted to share. Of course, if you want to drop these fine retailers a note about how awesome I am, I can’t stop you!

Pumpkins with Panache

I know everyone is going crazy over all of the pumpkin-flavored stuff out there. Pumpkin spiced lattes. Pumpkin pie. Pumpkin, quinoa, and kale muffins. OK, I made that last one up, but I bet it’s out there somewhere.

Confession: I don’t like pumpkin. Not even a little bit.

[Insert collective gasp of horror!]

Now that you’ve picked your jaw off the ground, don’t burn me at the stake yet. Because there is one pumpkin tradition I hope our family continues for years to come:

Pumpkin

Coolest thing ever. All credit goes to my husband for the creative idea and master carving skills!

Words of Wisdom

Finally, Friday Favorites wouldn’t be complete without a round-up of the best stuff on the Interwebs!

Less is More

Eli at Coach Daddy does the coolest, Hemingway-inspired posts. His In Six Words series challenges contributors to respond to a topic or prompt in only six words. It’s harder than you think, but the result is incredible.

In A Coach’s Lesson, in 6 Words, he explores words of wisdom (or not!) from coaches and mentors. You might even recognize the first contributor (nudge, nudge, wink, wink), as well as several other names on the list!

Kick Comparison to the Curb

Cori at Olive to Run is wise beyond her years. Whether you’re a runner or not, her post I Run Slower Than a Dial Up Connection: Speed is Relative is a good reminder to kick comparison to the curb and own our talents, passions, and ultimately ourselves!

The Golden Rule

Finally, I want to share a new-to-me blog. Thanks to Wendy at New Moms Talk for sharing this with me.

In Be Gentle With Yourself: Turning the Golden Rule Inside Out, Jane reminds us we are far harder on ourselves than anyone else will ever be. This beautifully written post reminds us to love ourselves the way we love others.

What are your Friday Favorites?
